Fusion Space Cuisine

Fusion cuisine is defined as "a style of cookery which blends ingredients and methods of preparation from different countries, regions, or ethnic groups; food cooked in this style". In the case of space, it is mainly space optimized cooking based on concentrated ingredients.

3D printed food produced by the TNO research center in the Netherlands, a member of the URBAN consortium investigating 3D printing in support of a lunar base. A food printer creates diversity in looks, tastes and textures from a limited set of ingredients.

The objective of 3d printed fusion cuisine is to provide space travelers with healthy, delicious and nice-looking food with minimum cargo requirement. I personally do not find feeding space travelers with freshly harvested vegetables and fruits. This method would be too bulky and cumbersome for weight conscious rocketry. It is best to send the dry extracts as nutrition and hydrate them with recycled water. The scent and food colorant wood also be included in concentrated forms to keep the moral and physiological wellbeing of the travelers by influencing them visually and olfactory (sense of smell).
