I got my inspiration from the airships attached to the top of the skyscrapers. The sightseeing plane would be a multi-wing plane to allow very low stall speeds like an airship. The passengers unlike a traditional plane would be seated in front of the plane. All seats would be front seats. The seats will rotate around. Therefore, there will be no need for aisles between the seats. The design is based on high aspect ratio wings. The passenger cabin of the plane will also follow the design of the wings. This would induce a high drag like in airships. However, utilizing multiple wings and lowering the cruise speed would reduce the drag to allow the plane to be airborne. The wings of the plane would accommodate low profile lithium batteries. The plane would be propelled by brushless motors with large propellers. This would lower the noise of the propellers and the motors compared to high-speed small propellers used on drones.
The sightseeing plane would be launched from a suspension bridge supported by vertical wind turbine towers. Once the plane’s motors reach the cruising speed, the plane would be released from the suspension bridge. As the plane descents down the ground, it would generate lift and fly higher. After the plane is released, the cranes on top of the suspension bridge would lower hooks on the ground. Then, grasp another plane on the ground and raise it to the top for a new launch.
Once the flight is complete, the plane will approach the bridge and let the hooks grasp it. Low cruising speed of the plane will allow this. Once the plane is grasped, the motors will be shot down and the plane will be lowered to the ground. The passengers will board and disembark from the plane on the ground.
The vertical wind turbine towers will generate electricity for the planes and to the city. In very windy days, there would be no flight, but a lot of electricity generated by the towers.
